Visual Rhetoric I

profilerere111

Primarily using a visual message, create a one-page document that makes an argument for a change in workplace policy. Your task is to find an image and combine it with a limited amount of text in order to create a persuasive message. Both the image and the text should provide focus and emphasis. It’s worth considering how you might utilize ethos and/or pathos and logos to enhance the effectiveness of your message. Your document should be geared towards promoting a change in workplace policy that you feel one could reasonably expect to see in your chosen profession. Very general examples of subject matter might include: • banning the use of cell phones for personal communication • addressing punctuality problems among staff • greater emphasis on the importance of treating your colleagues with respect Save your document in pdf format, and in the accompanying Bb email include a five-sentence self-evaluation of the effectiveness of your message. The following three photos provide examples of visual rhetoric. Consider, for instance, how the third image of the woman at the subway train door could work well within the context of a message stressing the importance of stopping sexual harassment in the workplace. The fourth image is provided as a guideline to the format your message might take in that it has the right balance of image and text.
