Video: The World is Flat: Globalization & IT

profileowanaba

Hi,

Please watch the video of Steve Job and questions to answer below:

Introduction

Globalization and information technology go hand-in-hand. Thomas L. Friedman (http://www.nytimes.com/column/thomas-l-friedman?inline=nyt-per), The New York Times foreign-affairs journalist, best selling author, and three-time Pulitzer Prize winner, wrote The World is Flat: A Brief History of the 21st Century (2007), to discuss globalization, technology, and outsourcing, as well as the equalizing effects of the infrastructures of the Internet, global telecommunications, and emerging technologies today.

Task

Watch this MIT video http://video.mit.edu/watch/the-world-is-flat-9145/ given by Thomas L. Friedman.

(Note: This is the longest video this semester, as most videos are several minutes only. Watch as much of this video as you can, preferably the first 25 minutes. The video is 48 minutes, followed by Q&A for another 27 minutes.)

Questions

What does it mean the world is “flat,” according to Thomas L. Friedman, author of The World is Flat? What is the most interesting issue raised, or fact you learnt, from the video? Do you agree or disagree with Mr. Friedman regarding this issue? Why, or why not?

Please I will appreciate it if you can send me the answers tomorrow by 15:30(3:30pm). Thanks

Best regards...Owanaba
