Using Social Media in Facilitating the Staffing Process
QUESTION: What opportunities and problems do you see in using social media to facilitate the staffing process? What are the issues surrounding privacy? Legal implications?
There are a number of changes occurring in the staffing process for both organizations and individuals. One change is the growing use of social media (Skype, Second Life Virtual Reality, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.) to facilitate matching employers with potential employees. To get a better handle on this change, I would like us to spend some time examining this phenomenon and getting more comfortable with this approach. Take a look for some of these websites. When you find a new site with a focus on social media and recruitment (the site can be specific to a particular organization or aimed at a broader audience) add the information about the site to the discussion. Be sure not to duplicate websites already listed.
For this discussion, you must state your position and supporting rationale. You also must respond to the positions and rationales posted by the other students and to the questions/comments posted in response to your comments.
