Counselors are frequently faced with ethical and legal issues throughout their work with clients.  Regardless of the specific organizational ethical code of conduct that you may follow; for example, APA, ACA, or the NAADAC ethical codes, each of these has a shared goal of providing the highest standard of professional conduct for the mental health professional.

●      Compare and contrast ethical standards and laws.  How do ethical concerns inform the counselor’s relationship with his or her client?  When working with a vulnerable population such as a client recovering from a Substance Use Disorder, analyze what this might mean for the counseling relationship in terms of treatment success.
