Unit 6 Discussion Board Question Parole and probation

profileMzjc

Years ago, judges used to give young offenders the option of enlisting in the military as an alternative to going to jail. While the military now has policies guarding against mandated enlistment instead of incarceration, the discussion has again come up as to whether or not this would be an appropriate alternative to incarceration and potentially a criminal record. Review Box 8.4 in your textbook (page 201). Do you think that mandating offenders to enlist in the military would be a good idea or not? Would it depend upon the offender, the offense type, or the offender's criminal history? What do you see as the pros and cons to this alternative to incarceration? Please remember to support your opinion.
