Unit 5 PPT Instructions
Assume you are working as an Intern for Global Business Communications (GBC). One of Global GBC's client's has requested information about the topic, Academic Majors and the Future of Academic Fields. Given that the Office Manager, Shannon Cook, does not have time to perform research on the topic, she has requested that each GBS Intern: (1) research the topic, My Major and The Future of My Academic Field; (2) gather sufficient data for a formal report; and (3), organize and present this topic to a group in PowerPoint Presentation (PPT).

The scoring guide (grading rubric) that will be used to evaluate your Unit 5 PPT follows. Please use these criteria to guide you towards meeting all of the required elements.

Unit 5 PowerPoint Presentation DRAFT & FINAL Assignment
(Worth: 65 points)
OBJECTIVES:
· Research a topic and gather sufficient data for a formal report
· Organize and present a topic to a group.
REQUIREMENTS
For the final project, you will Research the topic, My Major and The Future of My Academic Field; (2) gather sufficient data for a formal report; and (3), organize and present this topic to a group in PowerPoint Presentation (PPT). Use the PPT Example (see file attachment) to guide you. Also view the requirements checklist (see file attachment). Be sure to include:
· Slide 1. Cover Slide = Includes the topic (The Future of my Field: INSERT MAJOR) and your name.
· Slide 2. Problem Statement = You may use the problem statement in the PPT Example template.
· Slide 3. Major & Career Status = State your college major (accounting, finance, management, marketing, etc.). Identify your career status (i.e., where you are in your career, now).
· Slides 4 & 5. Career Center Research = Either visit the (a) online Career Center; or (b) ground-based Career Center at your home school community college. If you are not near your college, you can find the Career Center on the website of your community college (Front Range CC, Arapahoe CC, etc). Research and describe the following information from your Career Center:
o a) Where is the Career Center at your college located?
o b) What services does the Career Center offer?
o c) What assistance can you get with your résumé from the Center?
o d) Why are the Career Center resources important for you as a student?
· Slide 6. Annotated Webliography (Internet resources). Perform Internet research about the future of your chosen academic field of study. Create an annotated webliography with five (5) total resources about the future of your academic. Include:
o at least one (1) primary source with annotation
§You may use the U.S. Bureau of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook 2010-11 Edition. Click http://www.bls.gov/oco/; then, insert your field in the search box.
o at least four (4) secondary sources with annotations
o HINT: Review the Primary (e.g., Original Survey) vs. Secondary (e.g., Articles, Websites) resources definitions on pages 320-333 of the eText)
· Slides 7 & 8. Visual Images. Incorporate two (2) visuals (graphic images) that align with the topic (The Future of Your Field), properly formatted (Figure number with title and Source URL).
· Slide 9. Conclusion. Briefly present your research findings. Then, based on your research findings, draw a conclusion about the future of your field.
***Properly cite your resources by incorporating citations where appropriate on each slide!
PPT Example
· Use the format structure and headings/subheading provided in the BUS217 Unit 5 PPT Example.
· If you do not have Microsoft PowerPoint program and cannot open the file, you may need to download the PowerPoint Viewer (see http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=6). You may use the open source (free) Microsoft-like PPT program at www.OpenOffice.org.
· You may use the template PPT background or another background of your choice. Be sure to include/retain the bullet points, and delete the bullet-pointed content (i.e., the help hints) by inserting your own information.
· Also delete all instructions.
SUBMISSION - 2 Parts (Unit 5 Discussion + Unit 5 Assignment Dropbox)
1. Upload your PPT Draft as a file attachment in the Unit 5 discussion.
2. Receive feedback and recommendations for improvement.
3. After receiving peer feedback from your PPT Draft posted in the Unit 5 discussion forum, make the necessary changes.
4. Then, submit your completed PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) by uploading the PPT file into this Unit 5 assignment dropbox by the scheduled due date.
