The industrial revolution played a huge part in the shaping of Romantic era music. Also, for the first time, music was composed and played for “the common man.” No longer were musicians attached to a royal order or wealthy contributor. Lastly, if there was a time for the emergence of “rock stars” it was in this period. Why do you think so many significant changes were happening with Romantic era music? What were some of the largest contributions to these social, cultural, and economic shifts in music?
