The consequences of drug abuse are very devastating to individuals and to society as a whole. This often causes one to think critically in regards to drug laws and policies. According to Wade, Tavris, and Garry (2014), some legalized drugs, such as coffee, alcohol, and tobacco, have just as many harmful side effects as those that have been deemed illegal. What do you think? Does legalizing certain drugs send the wrong messages to our youth? For instance, should doctors prescribe marijuana if it can ease the pain of certain illnesses? By doing such, is our society condoning drug usage?
