Unit 1 Discuss the following canons of Scripture:

• The formation of Hebrew Scriptures known as the Torah and the Tanak(h).
• The formation of Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox canon.
• The formation of the Protestant Old Testament canon.

The report should touch on the process for selection of Scripture and reasoning for inclusion or non-inclusion of books known as the Old Testament Apocrypha. Dates and locations that are significant in setting canon should be included.

Online library sources (such as Evangelical Theological Dictionary/Encyclopedia) will be helpful, along with the textbook. Students should use multiple sources and list them for the report. Review the Resources for Session One for video resources.
