Torts and Crimes

Using the South University Online Library or the Internet, locate information about torts and crimes. Locate and select two cases, one involving a crime and another involving a tort from your state (my state is Georgia) that has been decided in the last five years.

Based on your understanding of the above, express your views on the following:

• Provide the name of the case, court, and citation.
• In your own words, summarize the facts, ruling, and rule of law applied by the court.
• Briefly describe torts and crimes and the difference between the two.
• Jails deter crime. Do you agree with the statement? Why or why not?
• If you were in charge of deciding the punishment for certain crimes and torts, explain how you would punish the wrongdoer in order to deter future wrongdoing.
