Discussion 2
There are many federal regulatory agencies that are responsible for the oversight of HMO's but to major players include the department of human health services and department of labor. From the text, Essentials of Managed Health Care 6th edition, Peter Kongstvedt states that the department of human health services are responsible for "federal laws affecting managed care and over sees CMS consumer information CMS e-health standards, and the office of civil rights"(Kongstvedt, 2013). The importance of the department of human health services responsibility is to make sure that market requirements are in conjunction with acts and laws such as the ACA and HIPAA.
