Draft Thesis Statement

Your thesis statement is a brief account regarding what you intend to demonstrate in the body of your paper.  You begin by asking yourself a question about your topic.  Then, having done some of the research, you turn that question into a statement that briefly summarizes what you intend to demonstrate in your paper.  As your research continues, you may wish to change your thesis statement, and you may.  At this point, the professor wants to ensure that you know how to write a thesis statement.  For more, refer to   http://www.history.ubc.ca/content/formulating-thesis. 

Remember to read the instructions under Assignments carefully and to follow the Rubric on Writing a Thesis Statement.  The professor will use the same rubric to grade your work.  Post your thesis statement in Assignments no later than the Saturday night of Week 4.
