Water in a piston-cylinder assembly, initially at a temperature of 99.59 °C and a quality of 52%,

is heated at constant pressure to a temperature of 210 °C. Changes in kinetic and potential energy

are negligible. If the work during the process is +300 kJ,

(a) Determine the phase of the final state. Plot the process on T-υ and P-υ diagrams. (5’)

(b) Find initial pressure P1, initial specific volume υ1, initial specific internal energy u1; and

final P2, υ2 and u2. Show the process of interpolation where interpolation is needed. (3’×5)

(b) The total mass of water (liquid and vapor) in kg. (10’)

(c) The heat transfer in kJ. (10’)
