Tension between the new model and the old prerogatives in health care

Assignment: Sooner or later professional and non-professional caregivers alike eventually come to acknowledge the often conflicting interests of patients and the health care industry when it comes to care and cost. Please research and write a 6-page argument where you discuss some aspect of the tension between the new model of patient-centered health care and the old prerogatives of managed health care. Your essay should begin with a definition of the two approaches. Topics might include discussions of such issues as CAM, life review, long-term care, health care literacy, narrative medicine, palliative care, and the like, but you should advocate for something, even if it’s the old managed care system.

The essay will include a Cover Sheet, Abstract, and a References page. You must incorporate a forecasting statement that will serve as your claim or thesis (along the lines of “In this essay I will argue . . .”). You must include four sources with appropriate citations and bibliography in APA format. The four sources should be government sources (CDC, WHO, etc) or peer-reviewed journal articles retrieved from the university database sources, rather than newspaper or magazine articles or Internet sources (like the worthy but non-scholarly websites advocating for patient-centered care

***I highly recommend that you read the following articles from Caregiving—they will provide especially good material for your paper, and one is peer-reviewed, so you may use it as a source! You may also use any other of the readings from Caregiving. One of the most interesting is the essay on the Mormon care model written by a feminist.
