This week we will be discussing in detail the aspects of telecommuting.  For our forum discussion, I would like you watch the following video by Mr. Nick Bloom, Associate Professor at Stanford University on telecommuting as well as o read the attached article on telecommuting/telework.

Some of you, depending on where you have or currently work, may not be familiar with this practice. Telecommuting is becoming more and more popular in small and large private sector companies and the federal government.

For example, within the federal government, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) reported in 2009 that 10% (200,000) of the federal employees work from home at least one day a week.  As a result, the Telework Act of 2010 was signed into law by President Obama.

In the private sector, Republic Bancorp, a small chimerical bank in Michigan, allows 60% of their employees to work from home one day a week. This is a benefit that is growing on in both the private and public sectors.

When watching the video and read the attached article, look for the pros and cons of this benefit.  In your posting, I want you to discuss both areas as well as one area you may not have been aware of with regards to telecommuting/telework.
