The Teacher's Role in a Global Classroom

profileLiz2013

Gone are the days where students sit quietly in rows while the teacher lectures at the front of the classroom.  As our world becomes increasingly globalized and our classrooms become flat, teachers must prepare students for 21st century skills that include communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity (also known as the 4 C’s).  Review the following video The Role of Leaders in 21st Century Education (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vsan9hjWSPg), the P21 website on the 21st Century Framework for Learning (http://www.p21.org/about-us/p21-framework)

  1. How is your role as a future educator going to be different than the “traditional” role?  Do you see the changing role of the teacher and student as an important step in improving learning?  Explain.  Do you have concerns about the direction in which our education system is heading?  Why or why not?  Cite Chapter 7.2 from your text to support your response.
