The purpose of disk scheduling algorithms are to reduce the seek time of the disk head. Since all device requests are linked in queues, the seek time is increased causing the system to slow down. Disk Scheduling Algorithms are used to reduce the total seek time of any request.  CLOOK is actually a version of C-SCAn and with C-LOOK the arm only goes as far as the last request in each direction, then reverses direction immediately, without first going all the way to the end of the disk. Why is disk scheduling important?
