In the study of history, historians often look at important events in terms of cause and effect. The factors that caused an event to occur, then the effects of that event on society, are useful in the study of the past, partially because applications can be made between historical events and present situations. In addition, to fully understand any event, it is necessary to understand the immediate factors prior to and then following an event.

For this Core Concept 3 Assignment you will be provided with a short list of events, you should choose two to discuss. Please discuss the key events leading up to the "main" event, and then some of the results of the event, either immediate or long-term.

Your submission should be 1-2 pages in length (double-spaced). Please use complete sentences and write in paragraph form.

Discuss the causes and effects of the following key events (CHOOSE TWO):

1) The Slave Trade

2) The Reformation

3) The French Revolution

4) Imperialism

5) Industrialization

These are broad topics. Focus on choosing key points and main ideas to formulate your discussion. Be concise-- you are not expected to provide an exhaustive discussion of these very big events.
