For this paper on Stressing out the Rocks, here are some specific instructions. Read this carefully - it will help you!
- You are writing about how folds and faults form. You will read about several kinds of stress this week - you only have to talk about the ones that form folds or faults (so you don't have to talk about brittle or ductile deformation, elastic deformation, etc.).
- When you write about faults, there are 3 kinds to write about: normal, reverse (also includes thrust faults) and strike-slip faults. Be sure you describe what forces (compressional, shearing or tensional) from those faults.
- Don't forget to talk about how folds form - there's only one type of stress that creates folds.
That's it! You do not need to talk about synclines/anticlines, elastic deformation or anything else!
