Speech Discussion Question
How has the rise of technology such as television, computers, iPads, and smartphones altered our expectations regarding visual aids in accompanying presentations? Considering these expectations, what are some ways you will apply and use visual aids in your future presentations? What are some potential benefits and downfalls to using this technology? Provide a detailed hypothetical scenario noting how you will incorporate visual aids into a speech. For example, you are to give a presentation at your place of employment. How will you present the speech and include visual aids?
If you have access to watch/listen/play videos on your computer you may get a little laugh out of watching the following clip: http://www.ted.com/talks/a_ted_speaker_s_worst_nightmare.html (approx. 3-4 minutes) regarding the use of technology. The “Speaker’s Worst Nightmare” is intentional and planned out though does illustrate some of the different "nightmares" a speaker may face when giving a presentation.
