Sociological Imagination

Sociological Imagination Paper:  This is a 3-5 page analytic essay that applies concepts, theories, and perspectives from the course material to a current event. You are asked to NOT use outside sources on this paper, as it is an assessment of how well you understand, can explain, and can apply course material.  Moreover, this is a formal essay, not a personal reflection.  As such, you must provide references, parenthetical citations (even though they will be from the reader and lecture).  Moreover, it must be written toward a reader who is not in our classroom.  

1. Do not overuse first person pronouns

2. Do not use second person pronouns

3. No attention grabbers

4. Do not make it personal

5. except for specific terms use plain language

6. do not cite westers dictionary or wiki

7. Active voice

8. Well crafter thesis

9. Transitions are your friend

10. use the five paragraph essay (does not mean it only has to be five paragraphs, it only has to hold the format of a five paragraph essay)
