Last week (in Ch. 4 of Tischler) we learned about agents of socialization. Today, many people argue that social media such as Facebook and Twitter are a new agent of socialization. Given the six necessary functions of social groups identified on p. 124, do you consider your social media friends to be a primary or secondary group? Explain your answer.
