Social Science Essay
You must select for this assignment one of the topics provided in the following list. You must conduct research on the topic you selected and write a short (200 words), essay in which you report your research findings.
- Thomas Paine's argument that "government is a necessary evil."
- Differences between a direct and a representative democracy.
- The Word Democracy Means Different Things to Different People.
- Totalitarian Autocracies: Fascism and Communism.
No essays will be accepted after the Due date. You must submit your Essay through the Essay Dropbox. Essays that are not submitted through the assigned dropbox will not be accepted.
NOTE: Submitting a paper that was already submitted by the student to another professor and/or course is also considered an act of academic dishonesty. Students who are found doing this will also receive an F (no points) for this assignment. Students are expected to write a different, new paper for every class they take.

Essays that have less than the required 200 words will not be read, and will be assigned a grade of F (No points).
Professor reserves the right to submit all written assignments to Turnitin.com. Papers that Turnitin identifies as having more than a 10% rate of plagiarism after quoted material and small matches (10 words or less) are excluded will not be read and will received a grade of F (No points).
Written Work: All written work must be written using proper English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Points will be deducted for errors.Work that has more than 5 errors will receive a zero (F).
