Watch the way gender roles are taught and reinforced in our culture. Listen to those around you making gender assumptions or reinforcing gender role expectations by what they say (most of the time unintentionally). Look at media images of men and women—how they are portrayed in television, movies, and magazines. Walk around the toy department and observe examples/amount of gender stereotyped toys. Select three examples of gender socialization you observe and discuss them. Discuss each observation including what you saw and how it contributes to gender socialization. Briefly discuss your reaction to each of these observations. These should be 3 different observations from different situations.

Grading:

Three separate gender observations are clearly discussed. How the observation might contribute to gender socialization is clearly discussed. A brief reaction to each observation is included.
