In her essay, “Mother Tongue,” Amy Tan describes the differences between her mother’s English and her own.When you have read the essay, answer the following:

  • What do people think of Amy Tan’s mother, based on her “limited” English?
  • What does Amy Tan realize about her own English by the end of the essay?
