War and Film: The fourth paper is an analysis of the four films we viewed in this course, and a discussion of how these films illustrate both the changing nature of war and how we depict war. The paper should be 10-12 pages in length (about 2500words), (double-spaced, with one-inch margins, and a 12 font), which will include the following:

•   A brief introduction to your paper, mentioning the films you are discussing and discussing the scope and thesis (i.e. the central argument) you are making in the paper. (1 or 2 paragraphs).

•   A two-three page discussion of each of the four films. This discussion should include the scope and thesis of each film, when the film was made, who made the film (director, and, if appropriate the studio or production company), significant persons in the cast, and a brief synopsis of the film. It should also provide details on how each film presents its war through both plot and images, and an analysis of how successful the filmmaker was in his or her depiction of this war. This section can include a brief discussion of the contemporary critical reception of the film. (This section should run about 2200 words for all four films)

•   A one-two page analysis of what these four films tell us about the changing nature of war and the changing nature of the depiction of war in our popular culture,.
