Select a current product or service with which you are familiar. This product will be used to pitch a new integrated marketing communication and marketing mix to a client who is the marketer or producer of the product.
Review the current marketing mix including the communication channels used.
Part 1
Create a 12-slide presentation including detailed speaker notes that will act as the script of a presentation. Include the following in the presentation:
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the existing marketing mix (elements of the 4 Ps).
- Recommend a new marketing mix strategy based on any weakness(es) you discovered.
- Examine the company's current positioning strategy.
- Determine whether or not to change that strategy.
- Identify any considerations to be used when building or maintaining the brand or customer loyalty.
- Evaluate the target audience's use of and belief in the distribution channels and/or communication channels used.
Part 2
Create a storyboard, print ad, or a radio or video commercial for the product featuring your new marketing mix. Video or audio options should be 30-60 seconds and storyboards 5-8 slides.
Use an app or program such as Movenote®, Knovio®, Presentme®, or another video recording application if selecting the video option. Storyboards can be created using Microsoft® PowerPoint® or a site such as Storyboard That® (https://www.storyboardthat.com/)
.
Format your presentation consistent with APA guidelines.

Some Q&A that may help to clarify this assignment:
Here are some questions and answers about the video part.
- The ad needs to be "creative". I think this is what we're trying to accomplish? Yes, the idea is how you would communicate your message to your audience and stand out from all the clutter of competing ads -- this is where creativity in advertising really comes into play.
- Are we filming the actual product? Filming a commercial is optional (see my storyboard discussion below). If you elect to film one, you would need the product -- or some mock one you could easily create. I would certainly not expect you to actually acquire the product to make the commercial.
- How do we visualize our strategy by filming the product? A commercial typically shows several scenes with each having accompanying audio. The visual and audio combined should tell the brand story -- benefits/features, etc. So it should be reflective of your overall marketing strategy.
- From a technical perspective .... I know how to use PowerPoint but the storyboard requires MS Visual Studio Premium, which I don't have. You need not use the actual PPT storyboard program. You could use a series of regular slides with each slide being a scene in your commercial and any explanation and the audio indicated in the speaker's notes. The scenes in the slides could use clip art or photos. As a rule of thumb, a 30 second commercial would have 5 - 6 scenes. The slides in the storyboard would not count towards the presentation slide count. As an alternative, you can use StoryBoard That (https://www.storyboardthat.com/) which allows you to create short storyboards (but enough for this assignment). A trial subscription is free so don't buy the full version.
- Researching, I did see a reference to a "YouTube (TM) movie downloader", but again, unfamiliar with how to use this. A simple video using a smartphone video camera seems would seem sufficient. Yes, a cell phone video would work just fine -- in fact that would be the easiest way if you choose to create a video. If you do create a video, you may upload it to You Tube with the URL contained in your PPT or you could upload a video file with your assignment submission.
- After a "video" is created, do we embed it within PowerPoint or is it a separate file to provide to you? It could be done either way. If embedded in a PPT presentation, it would not count towards the slide count restriction.
- What about the print ad if I do that instead? The print ad part may also be done using a blank PPT slide with visuals and verbiage added. Again, the visuals could be clip art or photos. Alternatively, you could use a program such as Publisher to create the ad. The print ad will also not count towards the PPT slide number restriction.
