Minimum Requirements for the Second Draft of the Opinion Argument Essay.

1. Complete Introduction, including thesis with 3 reasons.

2. Complete development of all three reasons in the Body.

3. Complete development of Counter Argument (Opposing View) section in the body.

  *Present an opinion different than your own that comes from a researched source and identify ONE reason given by the writer for that opinion.

   *Try to concede something about that one reason.  Point out a positive of that reason that gives it some validity.

   *Explain that despite some strengths the reason has weaknesses.  Analyze the weaknesses of the reason in order to lessen the validity of the writer's opinion.

 4. Do not write a Conclusion.

 5. Limit your research to the two readings on the subject of essay writing.
