This week's environmental controversy discussed the issues between science and politics. You read three different articles that should have provided you more insight into the different sides of the issue. One thing discussed was Scientific Theory, and with this weeks discussion we will investigate a couple of ideas related to this theory.  Please review the following statements and answer the question below. 

  1. Scientists have not absolutely proven that anyone has ever died from smoking cigarettes.
  2. The greenhouse theory - that certain gases (such as water vapor and carbon dioxide) warm the troposphere - is not a reliable idea because it is only a scientific theory.

How do you think that both of the above statements relate to scientific theory?  Please explain your answer and post it in the discussion area.
