roman history project

profilermc3jy

You will create a presentation about Roman History. This project is designed to provide you with a creative opportunity to demonstrate what you have learned about the significant figures and events in Roman history.

Your project will be a slideshow presentation detailing seven significant historical figures and/or events from your chosen time period. It is to be a presentation where you hit the 5 Ws to include the most significant information. It's not to be a wordy report written out in paragraphs.

If you have another project idea, you may ask permission from your teacher.

Your project must include:

At least 1 graphic per slide (you may have more)

At least 3 bullet points per slide (you may have more)  (This is around 50-80 words per slide.)

   Title and bibliography slides

It’s a good idea to create your project to meet the “Exceeds Stadards” category in the Scoring Guide.

What application should I use?

You may use PowerPoint for this assignment. If you wish to use another application, please check with your teacher to make sure you can use it for this project.

What information should my project include?

Your project will describe in detail one of the three time periods of Roman history:

·    Monarchy: 753 - 509 BCE

·    Republic: 509 BCE - 27 CE

·    Empire: 27 - 476 CE

You are creating a project that communicates the importance of seven specific historical figures and/or events from your chosen time period. Make sure you give important information about each and tell why these figures or events are important.

Use the 5Ws:

·    who or what the figure/event is

·    when and where it happened

·    why it is important

You MAY NOT borrow written information from your sources. You may take notes while you read to help you remember details, but when you write your information you must compose the text in your OWN words. Include all the sources you use in your bibliography. Be careful to use reliable sources.

Visual Display (Pictures)

Your project will include at least one picture per slide. The pictures may be images that you create, or you may borrow images that you find in books or on the Internet. If you borrow images, make sure to include your sources in your bibliography.

Crediting your Sources

Information you find in books, magazines and on the Internet belongs to the person who wrote it. You must never take information that another person has written and pretend that it is your own work. Submitting an assignment without crediting your sources indicates that you are claiming that the work is your own.

For this project, you MAY borrow pictures from your information sources as long as you credit your sources. You will credit your sources in a bibliography

Bibliography

Your project will include a bibliography. A bibliography gives credit to the resources you used to find the information. A project will NOT be accepted without a bibliography.

A bibliography is put on a separate slide at the end of the presentation. The list is ordered alphabetically with the author’s last name first, starting at the left-hand side. It is followed by his or her first name, and then the title of the book. The title is in italics. If there is a subtitle, it follows the title, separated by a colon. The name of the publisher is next, followed by the city where the book was published, and the year of publication. After the first line, all other lines of the listing are indented.
