The position that i held was a caregiver. I was responsible for dressing the residents, light housekeeping, showering the residents, escorting to meals and activities. I also had to remind the residents to take their medication and keep a daily chart.
The task that i enjoyed the most about this job was escorting the residents. The learning pattern that i used with this skill was sequencing. There was always something that you could learn about the resident, especially their hobbies. Another task that i enjoyed was keeping a daily chart. With this i was able to inform the family members of the residents daily progress. Being able to assist residents with crafts and activities was also fun. With this i used technical reasoning. I was able to show the residents how to create different crafts.
The task that i enjoyed the least would be showering the residents. It was always a hassle because some refused. I always had to try and come up with different ways to get them in and out easier. Informing family members of a resident passing was something else that i did not enjoy. No one ever wants to hear about a loved one passing. Lifting residents was another task that i did not enjoy. Residents were always putting their weight on me and did not really assist.
I believe this job was a good match. I was able to things at my own pace as long as the work was done and residents were assisted in a timely manner. I was able to do things on a routine schedule and keep notes. It also gave me the opportunity to help others.
