GOAL:
To deliver the Argumentative Essay in the form of an oral presentation.
LENGTH:
The presentation must be at least four minutes in length and no longer than seven minutes. You should be speaking for the majority of the time; in other words, playing a video developed by someone else during your presentation will not count towards the total time minimum, simply because the goal is to get you talking for a short, but substantial length of time.
FORMAT:
To complete this assignment properly, you’ll need to find a way to communicate your materials both visually and audibly. In other words, you’ll want to employ some form of recording technology that the audience can both see and hear. You are welcome to use whichever video presentation format you would prefer; I will provide a video tutorial on how to use PowerPoint with voice over. I also recommend Screencast-o-matic, which you can download for free here.
It is not required that you, yourself be visible during the presentation. For example, the screencast technology is more like a “webinar” in which you provide the voiceover for a slideshow or computer program. However, feel free to be creative: no one is stopping you from filming yourself giving a Ted Talk.
CRITERIA:
The criteria for evaluating this assignment are outlined in the Oral Presentations Rubric, including organization, visuals, and effective word choice.
DELIVERY/AUDIENCE:
The final video presentations will be posted on this assignment module for Week 6. Think about myself and your classmates as your presentation audience.
UPLOAD:
At this point, you already have the content, since you've written the paper. You might even have visuals since many of you incorporated visuals in your essays. Incoporporate your key ideas into a powerpoint slideshow and complete a brief 4-7 minute screencast, in which you provide voiceover to the presentation that you have created.
