Researched Expository Essay
Hi, I want a research paper for my English class. The instruction are followings
Are media and new technologies overwhelming your life or the lives of people you know? What's the border between the two? Is there one any longer? In our second essay, we’ll consider how such things as television, movies, and other media influence us and the people around us. Also, we’ll think about the newest kinds of communication and other technologies, such as social media, and consider how they change the way people act. Although you’ll use research for this essay and you won’t use your own experience for your evidence, you might consider how media or new technologies that you choose to write about affect people like you or people in our area.
To get you thinking about the topic, you might want to read Colson's "Merchants of Cool," which considers why people are attracted to the media, and Roosevelt's "Puffing Up a Storm," which focuses on the ways in which movie's may be encouraging kids to smoke. Also, you might read the Wired magazine commentary "Cell Phones? Hell Phones!" on the social problems cell phones may cause and Bernard's "Zero-Thumb Game: How to Take Texting" on how some English teachers are trying to use discussions of texting to teach about writing. You don't have to write about any of these articles, but you should think about a topic that has an effect on real people.
As you choose your topic, remember that this is an expository essay, so you should use one of the rhetorical patterns I described for the Personal Expository Essay (definition, comparison, cause and effect, or classification). Your evidence will come from at least five sources such as books, magazines, journals, and even the Internet. The essay will be 4-5 pages and will be written in MLA style with an additional page(s) of works cited. Although your primary purpose is not to persuade, you will probably make a more provocative claim in your thesis sentence than you did for the first essay.
I can't think of a topic on my own but it should not be too broad and make it specific. For example, The negative effect on cellphones, How social media affects teenagers etc. Moreover, try to use Proquest as the source for your research. The paper should have both your own opion and from the source. Furthermore, plase try to use simple english which means you don't have to make the word to professional since i'm an international student and my english is not that good. The paper should be 4-5 pages long include the works cited page and it has to be written in MLA style.
