Research Topic and Write a Proposal

In 1-3 pages, prepare a research proposal that includes the following:

1. Identify your chosen topic for your research paper and the reason that you selected this topic
2. Write a one-sentence project proposal in which you state how you are going to approach your chosen topic in your research paper. State your proposal in the form of a problem or question. Explain why this problem or question is important to you.
3. Identify background information you might need to research.
4. Identify the kinds of materials you expect to review for your project.
5. Describe briefly what you expect to be your research methodology.
6. Schedule or timeline to complete your research paper.

If you paraphrase or directly quote resources, you must cite those sources in-text and on a References Page. (Note that such paraphrases or quotes are OK, but are not required for this first step in the project.)

Submit your completed assignment by following the directions linked below. Please check the Course Calendar for specific due dates.

Save your assignment as a Microsoft Word document. (Mac users, please remember to append the ".docx" extension to the filename.) The name of the file should be your first initial and last name, followed by an underscore and the name of the assignment, and an underscore and the date. An example is shown below:
