Research Project – Part 2

Scenario:

You have been hired to be the chief operations officer for the US division of a car manufacturing company. The company has 37 dealerships located primarily in the northeast and the Midwest areas of the United States.

The parent company is considering locating an assembly plant in North America. The three options considered are:

1.      Locate the plant in Tijuana, Mexico.

2.      Locate the plant in San Diego, California.

3.      Locate the plant outside Detroit, Michigan.

Your task is to create a report (a minimum of 4 pages), outlining the key advantages and disadvantages of each option. You must use quantitative data.

After outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each option, create a recommendation and include a justification for your choice. You must recommend one of the three locations, or an alternative location of your choice. Include a justification, based on the key concepts we have learned in class and your research findings.
