Research Paper – Outline Instructions

After completion of the Annotated Bibliography, you will create an outline of your draft. The outline should be submitted as a Microsoft Word document and must follow the format indicated below. Along with the body of the draft, each major section of the paper should be represented in the outline, including the title page, abstract, references, and appendices (if utilized). Subsections of your paper should be listed appropriately following the example below. The outline should be 1–2 pages.

Brief explanations (1–3 sentences) should be used to describe your main ideas in order to demonstrate how the parts of the paper fit together. You should indicate in the outline where the sources from the annotated bibliography will be utilized. This should be done by citing the source in APA style for in-text citations (e.g., Anthony & Estep, 2005). In the References section, include the full citation of the references in APA format following the outline. If a new, major source is used that was not a part of the original Annotated Bibliography, you should indicate that it is a new source and provide a brief explanation and justification for including that source following the full citation at the end.
