Pick an issue from the Alexie text that intrigues you. Research the issue thoroughly. Then, explain the issue to your reader using the Alexie text as a springboard and your research as main points. Your thesis should answer the following question:

What issue from the Alexie text is applicable to us right now? What research exists on this issue?

Keep in mind that this is a research paper, not an argumentative paper. While there should be some support for the idea that your issue is important, your main concern is to educate your audience, not persuade them.

Assume that your readers are members of the standard academic audience who are not familiar with the Alexie text and may have only a basic understanding of your chosen issue. You must fully describe the issue using your own words, using sources as support when applicable. Then, summarize existing research on various aspect of the issue. See the sample models.
