Policy briefs are succinctly written documents, a few pages in length that inform readers about a particular topic. Briefs are evidence based summaries of issues with policy options to deal with them and recommendations regarding next steps. Typically they are prepared for government policy makers or other groups (e.g., NGOs) interested in influencing policy.
Policy briefs vary in format and length. Your policy brief should be about 2,000-3,000 word and include research cited and links to useful sites. You should include 8-10 articles from peer reviewed journals or book chapters that are not a part of the course readings.
Besides preparing a policy brief, you are asked to prepare a ~500 word executive summary of your brief.
