Holiness and Purity as prescribed in the Book of Leviticus are hard to understand by moderns like us.  One way to understand them is to regard them as markers of a society, just like fried green tomatoes, using painted tractor tires as planters and NASCAR humorously mark the culture of the south.    

QUESTION:  Can you share with the class markers of your own culture which might be hard for an outsider to understand?
