1. It can sometimes sound like Christians are only concerned with getting to the next life (heaven), not with what's going on in this life. But the introduction (pages 8-10) of this document relies on several quotes from Pope Francis to argue something very different. Write 2-3 sentences about how the document's introduction makes its case that Christians cannot ignore what's happening in the world today.
2. According to the document, the clergy (the ordained ministers like priests, bishops) and lay people (Catholics who aren't official leaders of the church) have complementary roles when it comes to public life. This means that their roles are not the same but that they work well together. Write 2-3 sentences about how their roles are complementary according to the document.
3. The document says that "decisions about political life are complex and require the exercise of a well-formed conscience aided by prudence" (top of p18). In your own words, based on the document, write 2 sentences that summarize what they mean by "well-formed conscience" and 2 sentences that summarize what they mean by "prudence".
