Read the preface and introduction to Mapping the Terrain. Post your 150-200 word response, using the prompts below as a guide.

• What is new genre public art? How does Lacy distinguish between this type of art and other types of art? Think of an example that you have seen or experienced in your life.
• Lacy's concern is primarily with visual or physical art. How might these concepts be extrapolated and applied to music? What would need to change create "New Genre Public Music"? 
• Connect Lacy's concepts to at least two other works we've read. How do their ideas compare? Are there tensions between Lacy's ideas and any readings we've explored?
