Discussion—Importance of Writing Skills 

It is most likely that your college career will require more writing and higher expectations than you have previously experienced. In the professional world, those expectations will continue. Take a look at the employment section of a major city newspaper or other professional job board and note how many postings emphasize the importance of strong writing skills. 

Using the module readings and the Internet, research the importance of writing skills. Based on this research and that of job postings, respond to the following:

• Explain why writing skills are so important. You may consider the role that writing skills play in drafting cover letters and in maintaining other documentation. You may also state how writing skills help you remember things, think more clearly, solve problems, and communicate more effectively.
• Consider your own career path. Why will strong writing skills help you succeed? 

Write your initial response in approximately 200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. 

By Saturday, July 16, 2016, post your response to the appropriate Discussion Area. Through Wednesday, July 20, 2016, review and comment on at least two peers’ responses. Consider commenting on the following in your response: 

• How can one’s writing play a part in the way he or she is perceived by others?
