Use this opportunity to discuss any aspects of your work toward the assignment that you choose. Have you encountered particular challenges? Use this opportunity to seek input from your team on your approach toward the assignment.
As a guide for your discussion:
1. Discuss with your team the Behavior Change System that you have selected:
■ Self Management
■ Direct Instruction
■ Precision Teaching
■ Incidental Teaching
■ Functional Communication Training
■ Teresa: I will be using Functional Communication Training
2. Clearly describe the participants:
■ Who are the specific individuals targeted for the behavior change system project?
■ Why are they included (social validity)?
■ What eligibility criteria, if any, do they have to meet? If no eligibility criteria, state and explain why not.
■ Teresa: My target individual is a 15 year old girl with ASD.
■ This girl was chosen because she has verbal behaviors but rarely uses them she is upset/aggressive. FCT will help her replace the aggressive behaviors by using her words to indicate that she is upset and needs a break.
■ Criteria would include verbal behaviors.
3. From your Methods section of the assignment:
■ Ensuring fidelity: Share with your team your description of procedures for training those who will implement the behavior change system.
■ Be sure to indicate specifically who will be implementing the plan (e.g., parents, teachers, etc.).
■ Your training procedures need to be appropriate for the individuals you indicated would be implementing the system.
4. Plan for generalization and fading the intervention:
■ Describe how you will ensure generalization and maintenance of the DV.
■ Describe how you will assess for generalization and maintenance.
■ Describe when and how you plan to fade the intervention.
