are brick and mortar museums on a downward turn?

While it may seem that that is indeed the case, I would counter your question with the following question... is one really experiencing the art if one is viewing it through a computer screen?  And a follow-up question... what is lost by not experiencing and/or being in the same space as the actual art itself?
