Use the University Library or other resources to locate at least three articles relating to culture and marriage/intimacy (you do not need to seek topic approval but please do not hesitate to ask if you are unsure about something!)

Write one abstract for each article

You will be graded on the following:

·         At least two different cultures must be investigated

·         The articles must be from peer reviewed journals or you

may seek instructor approval for other resources. You will not receive credit if a non-peer reviewed resource is used without prior approval

·         Write 3 abstracts which clearly identify and document a minimum of three things (at least one item per abstract) you learned about culture and marriage/intimacy in your research

·         .Your paper should be 500- 700 words

I would like you to choose three peer reviewed articles that address the subjects of intimacy, marriage, relationships, communication, family, or other related issues.  

Be sure to use at least two different cultures but the topics don’t have to be the same or related to each other for each culture (but they can be).  For example, you can write about arranged marriage in India, communication patterns in young couples in China, and how working mothers in Saudi Arabia have impacted the family system, or you can look at how three different cultures deal with arranged marriages. You do not need topic approval but if you are unsure of a topic please feel free to run it by me.  Additionally, if you find articles that you think are good but not from a peer reviewed source you can run those by me too.

The total paper will be comprised of three abstracts, one for each article.  Remember that an abstract is short summary of an article.  If you are not absolutely sure of what an abstract is please look it up!  Included in your abstract, the final paragraph would be a great place, should be a statement about what you learned from the article (something you didn’t know before, something interesting, something that you would like to look into further, etc.).

I am open to the format you use but my suggested format is:

1.    Title page in APA format

2.    Article title, abstract, reference in APA format

3.    Article title, abstract, reference in APA format,

4.    Article title, abstract, reference in APA format (in this format you do not need a separate reference page)

The other way you could do it would just be a traditional paper format:

1.    Title page in APA format

2.    Introduction

3.    Three abstracts (be sure to include the title somewhere in each abstract)

4.    Conclusion

5.    Reference page in APA format
