Activity 4: Just Right Company Finale

This activity concludes your work on the Just Right Company Finale. Let’s review the basic parameters of the project.  The Just Right Company was awarded a new contract worth $250,000 from the Have It Your Way Company and you were hired as the sole project manager.  The first thing you should do is review the work you submitted for Activity 2.  (A 4-page response and three charts are required.)

Part A         Convert your WBS from Activity 2 to an MS Office Project WBS and create a Resource Sheet.  (Three charts are required.)

Use the sequence illustrated below (top to bottom) and the duration times listed for each activity in marking your WBS and Gantt Chart.

1. All team members are paid $25/hour (standard rate/no overtime) throughout the project and their working times are:  8:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

    

2. Once all resource data is entered, change Project’s “View” setting to “Resource Sheet.” Submit this information along with your WBS and Gantt Chart.

    

Part B         Answer these questions based on your WBS and Resource Sheet data. 

1. What is your project duration time?  How long is the project going to last, Start to Finish (i.e., calendar time)?  What is the sum of the duration time for all Activities?  Explain why all are different. 

    

2. Calculate and explain the project’s total cost.  Remember to include the overhead charges listed in Activity 2.  Will this project earn a profit?  Explain why or why not.

    

3. Discuss at least two (2) recommendations that you would make to reduce project costs.
