In setuid-enabled files, one has to enter user ID in order to get permission from the owner in order to execute a program. Setuid stands for "set user id". In setuid, the chmod command can be used to set it. All flavors of Linux differ from that UNIX in file system architecture. The Linux file system is not designed for simplicity for the user. However it is designed to be flexible and more secure. Additionally, the system is designed to be highly expandable, good performance, and with multiuser capability. Linux is considered better and a more useful operating system due to its compatibility with thousand of applications that can run on Linux. The application ranges from browsers such as Mozilla and Microsoft Office. In addition, it supports other software such as those used in burning CDs and DVDs.

You raise a good point on Microsoft office working on Linux. They are also offering a version of SQL as well:
