Hi PROF. FARELL,

Here is the assignment but we need to talk before you start to give you an idea of the issuses that are happen with my group while we were working on  group project on technical research.

Thank you

You are working at the M-Global office in Fullerton and have recently been appointed to a group project on technical research. Your objective is to report and evaluate problems that your group has experienced in your group meetings.

WRITING TASK: Write an informal report to Mrs. Chen describing problems encountered regarding the meetings in detail. Be specific about how the problems affected the group-performance, progress, team members, and so on. The following are some examples of problems that could be evaluated (you must choose from at least three of the bullet points given below).

 Meeting: cannot agree on location and/or time

 Difficult to get the meeting started

 Tasks not being completed by deadlines

 Collaboration: working together, individualism, commitment, member(s) not contributing

 Responsibility: misunderstandings about responsibilities, member(s) coming unprepared, and one /two member do all the work

 Ineffective communication

 Decision making: ideas are not thoroughly discussed as a team

 Harmonization: clashes of personality, conflict between team members, dominant personalities

 Effectiveness: workload allocations, skills utilization

 Accomplishment: usefulness of meetings, group progress

Once the problems have been understood and evaluated, provide recommendations on how such problems could be handled in future group meetings.

Note: The body of the memo should have at least three components:

 Identification of problems with the meetings

 How these problems affected the meetings

 Recommendations on how to resolve these problems so their effects are minimized in future group meetings

Be honest; whatever you say in this memo will help the group to progress and perform better in future meetings. More importantly, it will not affect the grades of your group members.

Format: Your memo should have a typical memo heading like the one above, type your initial next to your name, and do not forget today’s date nor the subject. Use short paragraphs and single-space your text, but double-space between paragraphs. In short, use the same format as this memo. Do not double space your text. The memo should be between 1½ and 2 pages inclusive.

Hint: Plan your memo; if necessary outline what you will say. Respond to the task fully. Before writing, analyze the context of the assignment by considering what you have learned from chapter 11 of your textbook in the context of technical writing, and answer the following questions:

 What is the purpose of the document to be written?

 What result do you hope to achieve by writing it?

 Who are your readers and what do they want from your document?

 What method of organization is most useful?

Assessment Measures:

Be specific and give justification. Commonplaces and clichés should not be used. Also, do not be overly friendly or overly demanding in tone to your boss, as it can be misunderstood. Remember, be professional! Give clear and well-illustrated reasons. Arrange your argument/narrative logically and coherently. I will evaluate both form and content of your memo
