Guidelines for formal assignment four

Description: This assignment is an annotated bibliography, which will help to prepare you for the final research paper. Come up with a topic of your choice associated with the course themes (lying, forgery, and imposters). Then, using the library databases or APPROPRIATE, RELIABLE online sources, decide on at least THREE articles or books that will be useful for your final research paper. Compose a formal annotated bibliography IN MLA FORMAT.

The annotated bibliography should consist of at least three MLA-style entries with at least three sentences of annotation after each, addressing:

1. A short summary of what the source (book or article) is about

2. How you know that the source is appropriate and reliable

3. How you will use the source in your research paper

Example:

Smith, John. Lying in Politics. New York: Columbia University Press, 2016.

This book discusses the various ways that politicians deceive us and the problems that arise from our expectation that we cannot trust any politicians. I know that it is a reliable source because the author has a Ph.D. in political science, the publisher is a university press, and the work is not biased or affiliated with any particular political agenda. I will use this source in my paper to provide a background for my discussion of the Watergate scandal, an example of deception in politics.

Audience: Your audience is composed of your professor and your fellow students.

Objectives:

1.      To develop your ability to find, read, analyze, and respond to sources

2.      To develop your critical thinking skills

3.      To develop your skills at following process steps to construct a research paper in a clear and effective manner

Components of assignment: For this assignment, you will need to find, use, and cite THREE sources (articles or books) in MLA format.

Strategies for completing assignment: Make sure—way ahead of time—that you are familiar with and understand the articles/books you will be using and that they will be useful for your final research paper.

Other details:

Annotated bibliographies must be word-processed, double-spaced, 12 point, with one-inch margins. Please provide a separate title page with the title of your topic, your name, my name, the course number, and the date of submission.
