BUSINESS CONCEPT

  Performance Center is a high performance facility that is geared toward increasing the strength, performance, speed, and agility of teenage and adult athletes.  The facility is a hybrid indoor/outdoor facility that will offer football, baseball/softball, soccer, and track athletes access to the best training equipment and elite staff specifically selected to help athletes excel in their respective sport.

Mission

Our mission is to be the top elite athletic performance center in the greater  Texas area.  We pride ourselves on achieving proven results in all areas of elite physical fitness: mind, body, and complete discipline of every athlete.

Objective

The objectives of Performance Center are:

a.Enhance the athletic performance ability of teenage and adult athletes so that they can reach their desired fitness levels within their respective sport of choice.

b.Provide a high performance training venue for high school teams and adult sports teams for football, baseball/softball, soccer, and track and field.

c.Offer a venue for elementary and middle school teams to hold both indoor and outdoor sporting events at an elite facility.

Staff and Qualifications

 Performance Center will have a staff of certified trainers, kinesiology specialists, coaches, referees and umpires to support the needs of its customers.  These individuals will be contracted employees to the company.  The trainers are required to maintain insurance for the specific activities that they specialize in.  All specialists, coaches, referees, and umpires are required to maintain their industry certifications in order to remain employed with the company.  The Center will align itself with Texas Lutheran University and Texas State University to offer internships and externships to the Kinesiology and Athletic Trainer students.  This will allow the students to practice their talents during training sessions both in and out of season for a variety of sports.

Additionally, several of the founding members of this company are veterans/disabled veterans who are seeking to give back to their brethren.  As such, this company will seek to employ veterans through the VA’s Special Employer Incentive Program (SEI) and through other local veteran organizations throughout the greater  Texas area.  SEI offers training to the veterans in support of the job they will be hired for.  They will then offer funding to the company to offset the salary of the veteran.

Target Market 

 Performance Center’s target market is Guadalupe county and parts of Comal and Hayes counties between the IH35 and IH10 corridors which include the cities of Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Seguin, TX.  Between 2010 and 2014, this area had an average rate of growth of 19% with San Marcos and Cibolo leading the way with growth rates of 30.7% and 25.8% respectively.  Population demographics in the target area are conducive to a rapid start up and continued growth well into the future.  Age demographics are as follows:

•10 to 14 year olds average 8.4% in most areas versus the Texas average of 7.4%.

•15 to 19 year olds average 9.4% versus the Texas average of 7.3%.

•20 to 24 year olds average 11.3% versus the Texas average of 7.4%.

Families as a percent of all households in Guadalupe and Comal counties average 75% compared to the Texas average of 70%.  Additionally, husband and wife families as a percent of all families in this area average 80% versus the Texas average of 72%.  

This data indicates not only rapid growth in our target market area, but rapid growth in the target demographic in our market area.  This growth is contributory to increasing demand for   Performance Center’s services and ensures our future success.

Growth Trends and Perceived Needs

  Performance Center incorporates the latest technological advances in athletic training to ensure the athletes meet their maximum potential.  The facility will be located in Seguin, TX in order to capitalize on the exponential growth of student athletes throughout the city and its surrounding cities (i.e.  San Marcos, Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels, and Seguin).  There are currently no facilities of this nature in the area that can support the needs of these cities without athletes having to travel an extreme distance to meet their needs.  Seguin is central to the target demographic.

Competitive Difference

There are various fitness facilities throughout Guadalupe County that support the general fitness needs of its customers.  However, there aren’t any public training facilities that offer training specific to an athlete’s sport of choice.  Athletes usually hire a trainer for one-on-one skills training, where the trainer usually has limited access to equipment and training space to enhance the strength, speed, and agility of the elite athlete.

 Performance Center will offer top of the line equipment, facilities, and trainers that specifically target the needs of elite athletes.  In addition, the facilities will be able to support the needs of teams ranging from high school to professional sports, and offer opportunities to host scrimmages to showcase athletic skills.

Facility 

The facility will contain areas for strength training, classroom instruction, batting cages, outdoor dual baseball/softball field, an indoor and outdoor dual soccer/football field, and indoor and outdoor track and field areas.  There will also be locker and shower facilities available.  The facility will be structured to support athletic team trainings and scrimmages.  Teams can reserve desired space(s) on a first come/first serve basis, with block hours available based on the type of training required.  Trainers will be available for team or individual training enhancement by appointment.
